Flames of Corona Measures Criticism Glow in Slovenia

Despite numerous ideological polarisations and other political games , the people of Slovenia and various initiatives in tandem with the Union of Taxi Drivers, have started to form a strong and wide network across the country. There are frequent protests against the corona measures in the most of the cities but this text will describe two of the bigger protests, that even the country’s MSM covered and (with a few exceptions*) reported on objectively, which was acknowledged by the protesters who expressed gratitude about that. The first protest was on 31 March in the capital Ljubljana, and the second was on 3 April in the second city Maribor.

The protesters came with a variety of demands, but after many separate and infrequent gatherings, these two events finally established a connection between previously disparate groups. In short, the protesters were critical of corona measures, among them parents, teachers and other workers (specifically taxi drivers and pub owners or managers).

Ljubljana, 31 March:

Crowd gathered in front the Presidential Palace from different angles:

Protester’s demands: stop testing (stop testom); take off your masks (maske dol); schools without masks (šole brez maske); for freedom of choice (za svobodo odločanja); end of enforcement (konec prisile); etc. Ljubljana 31.3.2021.

Among the speakers were Anica Bidar, Anis Ličina, Renata Filipič, and Bojana Pustinek. See here (video) how the people gathered and later cheered their inspiring and powerful speeches.

Demands addressed to the state’s politicians, President of the Republic Borut Pahor, and the Constitutional Court are clear:

Translation of the text from the demands on:

1. You are in the service of the people so act for their good. The President of the Republic promised this in his oath. He doesn't listen to the people. Posing is for teenagers, the honourable President would do better to listen to the citizens with an open heart and mind. We request a meeting between the President of the Republic Borut Pahor and all the civil initiatives at the protest (31 March). The discussion should be held outdoors and broadcast on national TV. People should be given the opportunity to hear all the arguments. As soon as possible.

2. The Constitutional Court is an institution that monitors the adoption of legislation and the violation of human rights. Constitutional judges are people of knowledge, integrity and moral integrity, right? We have nine of them in Slovenia. Just like the President of the Republic and all politicians, they are paid from our, taxpayers' money. The civil initiative requires them to make decisions about the filed constitutional complaints about corona measures. At least 12 of them are awaiting your decision and they all mark our lives. This is their work!!! It is well-paid work so the least we can demand is that they accept their responsibility and make an example of colleagues from abroad. They have until Wednesday, 7 April 2021.

3. We have practically a complete overview of the obligation to test teachers across the EU. This obligation is not established practice. As well as not masking children in schools, teachers demand the abolition of repressive measures and call for the normalisation of education.

4. Parents join the demand for the normalisation of education. We inform all politicians that we will not allow the schooling of children to be conditioned by the use of masks, testing or vaccination against C19. We demand professionally supported and scientifically based studies for all measures that try to condition the schooling of our children.

Let's breathe. Together freely again.

Perhaps a slightest bigger crowd gathered in Maribor on 3 April 2021. You can see it here, or here, or here.

*Only a few of the country’s MSM managed to sort the real demands of the vast majority (if not all) of the protesters. Therefore, they issued distorted reports, aligned with the usual MSM presentation of the protests that avoids giving a voice to criticism of corona measures in general. Here is an example of the possible start of fake news in MSM. A detailed description is provided under the picture.

Source of the photo: Facebook. Under the question marks, it says: teachers should do the following things in order for schools to stay open: wear a mask (nosite maske), get tested (testirajte se), vaccinate (cepite se). This protest’s slogans may have been the source of the MSM reporting of these protests given that the protestors were demanding all the things mentioned—or alternatively, perhaps they were desperately searching for the slightest opportunity to report in their usual way? Otherwise, the protests were, in general, presented as opposition to anti-corona measures in the country’s MSM.
